If you have hail damage on your roof in Williamson County, your insurance carrier will pay for the repair or replacement, less your deductible. We've done this 1,400 times since 2014. Here's how it works.
Most homeowners in Williamson County don't think about their roof until a hailstorm wakes them up at 3 AM. Then there are three Sundays of stress: did it actually damage anything, who do I call, is my insurance going to cover it, and is the guy at the door from Florida actually a contractor or a storm-chaser? This page is for the homeowner who is somewhere in that three-Sunday window.
You don't need to be an insurance expert. You don't need to know what a supplement letter is. You don't need to know the difference between RCV and ACV. You just need to call us, let Marcus walk your roof, and decide from there. The inspection is free, the inspection is no-obligation, and we have done this often enough that we can usually tell you in fifteen minutes whether the storm did damage your insurance will cover.
The 7-step Holloway insurance process
-
Free Inspection
Within 48 hours of your call. Marcus and a crew member climb the roof and document everything with 40–60 high-resolution photos. We check the shingle field, the ridges, the valleys, the eaves, the soft metals (gutters, downspouts, turbine vents, flashings), and the penetrations. We don't miss things.
-
Damage Assessment
If we find hail damage that an insurance carrier will accept — granule loss, soft-metal bruising, ridge cap damage, exposed mat — we tell you exactly what we found and what we think the claim is worth. If we don't find damage worth filing on, we tell you that and we leave. No upsell, no scare tactics.
-
Claim Filing
We help you file the claim with your carrier. Most carriers prefer a phone call to start the claim; we walk you through what to say. You'll need your policy number, the storm date, and a brief description of damage. The call usually takes ten minutes. Your carrier assigns an adjuster within 1–7 days.
-
Adjuster Meet-Up
When State Farm, USAA, Allstate, or your carrier sends an adjuster, Marcus is on the roof with them. We walk every plane together. We document every soft-metal dent, every bruised shingle, every damaged ridge cap. The adjusters in Williamson County know Marcus by name now — they've been on roofs with him 200+ times since 2014.
-
Supplement Filing (if needed)
Adjusters miss things. About 35% of the claims we file get a supplement — additional scope the adjuster didn't include on the first walk. Common supplements: ridge ventilation, drip edge on rake edges, ice-and-water shield, code-required upgrades. We file the supplement with photo documentation and a written scope. Average supplement: $3,500–$8,000 additional approved scope.
-
Material Selection & Scheduling
Once the claim is approved, you pick your shingle. We bring physical samples to your driveway so you can hold them against the existing roof in daylight. Most homeowners choose between Pewter Gray, Weathered Wood, Charcoal, or Barkwood. We schedule the install for 1–3 weeks out depending on weather and crew availability.
-
Install & Final Paperwork
One-day install on most roofs. Crew arrives at 6:30 AM. Tear-off, new underlayment, new shingles, new flashings, ridge ventilation, post-job nail sweep, photo documentation, final walk-through. Final invoice goes direct to your carrier. You pay your deductible. The carrier mails the final payment check to us with your name on the memo line.
Carriers we work with
We've worked with every major Texas homeowners' carrier and most of the regional ones. We know what their adjusters expect to see. We know which carriers depreciate the shingle and which ones depreciate the whole roof system. We know which adjusters want photos by plane and which want them by damage type.

About the trucks with out-of-state plates.
After every hailstorm, dozens of out-of-state contractors descend on Williamson County. They knock on doors. They offer to "cover your deductible" (which is insurance fraud under Texas Penal Code §35.02 — it can void your claim and your homeowner's policy). They get you to sign a contract on the spot. They take a deposit. Then, six months later, when the roof leaks or the shingles blow off, they're back in Florida and your warranty is worth nothing.
Trent has been on this side of I-35 since 1987. We'll still be here in 2031 to honor your warranty. Ask any of our customers — names and phone numbers available on request. If you've already signed with a storm-chaser and you're having second thoughts, Texas gives you a three-day right of rescission on home-solicitation contracts. We can help you exit that contract.
We've never had a GAF warranty claim denied. Forty-seven storm responses since 2014. We know what your adjuster needs to see.
Frequently asked questions
What does my insurance cover?
Most homeowners' policies in Texas cover hail and wind damage to your roof at replacement cost less your deductible. If the adjuster determines the damage exceeds the cost of a full replacement, the carrier pays for a new roof. Some policies have separate wind/hail deductibles — these are usually a percentage (1–2%) of your home's insured value rather than a flat dollar amount. Check your declarations page or ask Karen — she's read more policies than most agents.
How is my deductible different from the claim?
Your deductible is the portion you pay out of pocket. The claim is what your insurance pays the contractor for the rest of the work. If your roof costs $14,000 and your deductible is $2,500, your carrier pays Holloway $11,500 and you pay Holloway $2,500. That's the entire out-of-pocket cost.
Will my premium go up if I file a claim?
Maybe a small amount, maybe not at all. Hail claims are typically treated as "Act of God" and aren't held against you the way at-fault claims are. Your premium is far more likely to go up because your carrier is raising rates across the state than because of one claim. Don't let fear of a premium bump cost you a $14,000 roof you legitimately need.
Can you waive my deductible?
No — and any roofer who offers to is committing insurance fraud. Texas Penal Code §35.02 makes deductible waivers a state-jail felony. A contractor who waives your deductible can void your claim and your homeowner's policy. We will quote you the full job at adjuster-approved scope and you will pay your deductible. That's it.
How long do I have to file after a hailstorm?
Texas law gives you up to two years to file a claim from the date of loss, but most carriers prefer the claim within 12 months. The longer you wait, the harder it is to prove the damage came from a specific storm. If you suspect hail damage, get a free inspection within thirty days.
What if my roof is older than 15 years?
Older roofs are still eligible for hail-damage claims, but some carriers depreciate the value of the roof more aggressively on older policies. We'll tell you exactly what to expect after the inspection. If your roof is 18+ years old and was never previously claimed, hail damage is often the most cost-effective replacement path.
